Terrific life verse and I am glad I stumbled across your site. First off, I have been a PC user for almost 20 years and I believe I am ready to make the switch to a MacBook Pro. This year alone, I lost data due to viruses and that is with virus programs running. I also am working with more digital photos and I have become proficient in multimedia authoring. I have heard rumors about the MAC freezing up to the point you have to take the battery out??? You know all those crazy rumors about both systems. I am waiting for the new MBP to arrive. I am wanting 4 meg ram but it is so expensive. Do you feel any RAM would work as well as the installed RAM that comes with the computer? God bless…
Thanks for kind remarks Steven. The Lord has been so good to me all my life, even when I wasn’t close to Him, so I wouldn’t think of doing anything without spreading His Word. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life for me.
I haven’t experienced any problems with the MacBook Pro we purchased about a year ago. My wife complains a bit about how hot the unit gets when she uses it on her lap in bed, but other than that everything runs well. She uses it for some advanced digitizing software for her sewing machine, which is a Windows program she runs using Parallels. It also uses a security dongle, and we expected to have trouble running it on the Mac, but it runs perfectly, and she easily exchanges files from the Windows to the OS X side and vice versa.
I have a post that talks about the significant cost savings of purchasing ram from third parties rather than ordering it with a Mac. I have done this for three iMacs and a MacBook Pro with perfect results. On my latest iMac, I saved $699 by purchasing with 1gb and then ordering 4gb from Other World Computing.
